The Waiting Was Never Empty…

While sitting alone in a café, watching people come and go, I found myself reflecting on everything that has happened over the past months.
Life hasn’t been easy lately.
There have been days filled with uncertainty, prayers without immediate answers, and moments when I questioned what was next. But as I sat there, one thought kept echoing in my heart:
How could I not be grateful?
Here I am, still able to do the things I love.
Still able to travel.
Still able to write.
Still able to witness God’s creation one country at a time.
For the longest time, I believed that all you needed was money to do the things you loved.
But this season taught me something different.
Sometimes, what you truly need isn’t money.
It’s the right people.
The people who will believe in you when you struggle to believe in yourself.
The people who quietly pray for you without expecting anything in return.
The people who remind you that you’re not carrying your burdens alone.
I’ve come to realize how important it is to know who your people are.
Not the people who only celebrate your victories, but those who stay during the waiting.
Those who choose to walk beside you even when they cannot fix your situation.
Today, my heart is simply full of gratitude.
Thank You, Father God.
Thank You for sustaining me every step of the way.
When I look back, I can’t help but smile.
I survived a 16-hour train ride.
A 24-hour bus journey.
Countless border crossings.
Sleeper buses.
Hostels.
Places I had never seen before.
Before this trip, I had read so many horror stories online. People warned about overnight buses, traveling alone, unfamiliar accommodations, and crossing borders. Naturally, I was afraid.
But You never left me.
Every bus arrived safely.
Every train reached its destination.
Every hostel became a place where I could rest.
Every stranger I met became part of the story You were writing for me.
Looking back now, I see that You weren’t only protecting me from danger.
You were teaching me to trust You.
Because sometimes faith isn’t knowing every step ahead.
Sometimes faith is boarding the bus anyway.
Buying the ticket anyway.
Crossing the border anyway.
And believing that wherever You lead, Your presence goes before me.
So how could I not be grateful?
Even in the waiting…
You allowed me to experience the things I once only dreamed about.
Even in uncertainty…
You reminded me that I was never walking alone.
I don’t know what tomorrow holds.
I don’t know how every prayer will be answered.
But this much I know:
I will continue to trust You.
Because I have nowhere else I’d rather be than in Your hands.
“Lord, I have nowhere else to go but to You.”
